SCWR 486: Producing Live Sketch Comedy

This course offers a hands-on exploration of developing, directing, and producing a half-hour live sketch comedy show, filmed in front of a studio audience. Students will collaborate to write and refine original sketches, cast performers, and manage both live and pre-recorded segments, simulating the fast-paced workflow of professional sketch productions. Emphasizing ensemble-based direction, students will direct material written by their peers, honing adaptability and creative trust. By taking on both writing and production roles, students will gain practical experience in the technical and directorial challenges of bringing sketch comedy to life for television.
